Public vote phase up and running

2011/11/02

The public vote phase went live on Monday night with South African bloggers receiving their vote badges. The SA Blog Awards website saw an astonishing 900 votes within the first three hours of this phase. By midday on Tuesday more than 6000 votes had been cast.
The next ten days will see the readers of South Africa’s blogs vote for their favourite blogs. Be on the lookout for the SA Blog Awards vote badge on their blog. This year the public vote phase allows only one vote per blog in each category. If you vote for another blog in the same category your first vote will be negated.

This year voters must click on the vote badge of the blog they are reading. There is no blog “select and vote” system on the SA Blog Awards website this year. This means the voters must come from the blog they are reading to vote. We believe this is great for the bloggers and also limits random votes.

The public vote phase will continue until 9 November 2011. Then the top three blogs in each category will be handed over to a select panel of judges to determine the winners in each category.

The categories for this year have been trimmed down to ten, and bloggers had to decide when registering, which category most suited their blog. As always, the categories are very difficult to choose. Every year we see different blog topics arise and as always we endeavour to understand these categories and then position them accordingly.

The overall winner of the coveted title “Best Blog of the year” will be selected from the category winners.

The winners of the SA Blog Awards will be announced at a function at the prestigious Crystal Towers Hotel in Cape Town on 10 December 2011. The venue is spectacular and we are sure the guests will have a fantastic time. We are thrilled to have KFM’s Breakfast Show DJ Ryan o Connor as the MC on the night. Ryan is well known all over South Africa for his funny radio pranks and skill as an MC.

Best Regards
SA Blog Awards
